Workers’ representatives from different organizations in Nyamasheke district have pledged to contribute over Rwf36 million into the second phase of Agaciro Development Fund.
The pledge was on December 13th 2013 during the meeting to start “Agaciro Development Fund” second phase in Nyamasheke district.
During the meeting that gathered different leaders’ representatives in Nyamasheke district, participants called on Rwandese to embrace “Agaciro fund” program in order to build the country.
The mayor of Nyamasheke district, Jean Baptiste Habyarimana thanked the participants for the contribution towards building a self-reliant nation.
He explains that Agaciro program is being well perceived by different workers in different administrative levels in Nyamasheke because every resident contributes willingly according to her or his capacity.
Employees from cell to district level pledged over Rwf20.2 million, Umurenge SACCO workers pledged Rwf1 million, employees of Health Centers pledged over Rwf8.6 million, Bushenge hospital staff pledged over Rwf3 million, motorcyclists in Kanjongo sector over Rwf138,000, district council members Rwf1 million plus other levels that pledged 1/3 of their salaries to support Agaciro.
The Agaciro Development Fund is a solidarity fund that has been initiated by Rwandans to improve the level of financial autonomy of Rwanda as a nation. The uniqueness of the fund is that it is Rwandans themselves that will finance it.
The Agaciro Development Fund sets the tone that Rwandans will work together to drive their own development; giving the entire Rwandan population a higher level of direct ownership in the nation’s projects.
