Residents join Men in Uniform to launch the construction of Health centers for the Kwibuka20 activities
Rwandans across the Country woke up in a liberation mood, as Rwanda launched Kwibohora20 activities to mark 20 years since the country was liberated.
The activities, which were officially launched today, began with the laying of foundation stones at five health posts in each of the Country’s four Provinces and the City of Kigali. The Ministry of Defence (RDF) plans to construct 500 standard Health posts across the Country.
The launch of the health posts will contribute to the government’s vision of establishing one health post per cell by 2017, which brings it to a total of 1,548 new health posts to be constructed in the Country.
The official National celebrations to mark the Country’s Liberation Day is slated for July 4.
In different Districts across the Country, residents joined top government officials, RDF officers as well as local leaders to lay foundation stones where Health posts will be constructed, before engaging in dances and jubilations as they chanted Liberation songs.
In Gicumbi District, Northern Province, the Minister of Defence Gen. James Kabarebe laid a foundation stone where a Health post will be constructed in Kaniga Sector where he shared Liberation stories.

In Nyagatare Sector, the event was presided over by the Health Minister, Dr. Agnes Binagwaho and RDF chief land forces, Gen. Frank Mushyo Kamanzi.
Elsewhere, addressing residents after laying a foundation stone where a model health Centre will be built in Gishyita Sector, Karongi District, RDF Reserve Force chief, Lt.Gen Fred Ibingira told residents that the war to liberate the Country was successful and what remains RDF’s top priorities is leading in the war against poverty.

“The armed liberation struggle was successful. It is now our responsibility to replace the struggle with that of maintaining security, economy and peace—the main catalysts our Country’s development,” he said.
Addressing the media yesterday, Military and Defence spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Joseph Nzabamwita, said that the first phase of ‘Kwibohora20’ activities will see 44 health posts built during the annual Army Week, but the project would continue until all 500 units are completed by the end of the year.
“Army Week has transcended from being an entirely RDF activity to becoming a national model of operations whereby all Rwandans and institutions get involved in activities similar to the Army Week. We are calling on the public to join us.
There will also be various activities planned by districts, including constructing houses for survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, building schools, and others, but also done in cooperation with the military, the population and others,” Nzabamwita said.
