Gakenke prepares for evaluation event in style

A team of workers from different ministries instructed to evaluate performing contracts paid a visit to Gakenke District on Wednesday morning 31-07-2013 where they found all \district officials ready for the developmental assessment.

Gakenke district workers had tried to prepare for this event had set a garden with various crops produced on the entrance of the district’s multipurpose hall. These crops included different fruits and a very big banana that weighed about than 100Kg.

The district used sign posts to describe the achievements of the 2012/2013 economic year in crop and animal husbandry, infrastructure, habitation and housing among others and a television to transmit these achievements. The awards won by the district in this economic year were also presented like the award for off-farm jobs won in the 2nd position.

Egide Rugamba from the Ministry of Local Governments (MINALOC) appreciated the strength Gakenke district used to prepare for the evaluation event. He said performing contracts are big goals that are worked on for the whole year and should be taken seriously.

Rugamba who was heading the evaluating team said the goal of performing contracts is to work with objectives and hurrying the country’s development according to priorities. 

“Gakenke district has achieved a lot in the 2012/2013 economic year with its partners in development especially World Vision, Medicus Mundi and Access Project that helped us the most” says the district mayor.

Deogratias Nzamwita says in the last economic year, Muyongwe Health Center was built by the district with no help from the Ministry of Health like in the past as well as sectors’ SACCOs buildings.

The evaluation event is done in phases and the 1st phase is to evaluate the achievements on paper through presentations and the 2nd phase is done by going to the field to see if what was presented was really achieved.
